SOME TIPS ON USING THE SCAF AND ASSOCIATION SITES
SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER FOR YOUR COMPUTER
1. IS YOUR BROWSER UP TO DATE?

We get visitor statistics (you can view them by clicking on the little numbers on the bottom right of the main SCAF screen) and it is clear that some are operating with out of date browsers. We recommend Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 5 or later. The latest version is available to download free at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.asp even for those with Macs.
For those who insist upon Netscape, at least, upgrade to Version 6 at http://home.netscape.com/computing/download/index.html
Either will enhance your web browsing experience for all sites.
On slow connections like uniserve it will take quite awhile to download either of the new browsers but it is worth the investment.
2. Set your computer screen resolution to 800X600 or higher. This is the screen size most web sites are designed for and most show without a lot of scrolling around when set this way. Just right click on your desktop screen most anywhere and Select Properties/Settings and down at the right you will see a slider you can move to the new setting. On some older computers and for Windows 3.1 you may have to restart your computer for the new resolution to take affect.
SOME THINGS TO HELP ENJOY THIS SITE
1. The Main SCAF Entry Page

Look around before you plunge in. There are many features you may enjoy or use:
 • Sechelt weather • Links to the District • Classified Ads you can read and post • Most recent events highlighted
• comments on the web site itself can be emailed from this page. Emails regarding particular associations should be emailed from their site.

2. The SCAF Web Site
Here is more than just SCAF activities.
• Issues - highlighting current issues in the District
• Archives of important documents
• INFORMATION - find information about Health - Parks - Government - Safety and Important Phone Numbers
• LINKS - more than the usual with links for all the transportation needs, Senior help including even help with computers!

3. The Individual Association Sites
NOTICE: EACH ASSOCIATION DECIDES ON THE CONTENT OF THEIR SITE AND EACH IS SET UP INDEPENDENTLY
. Some features are not available on some sites by their choice.
• Navigating - just use the buttons on the left except in rare cases for some documents where you should use you back button.
• You can always get back to the SCAF site by just clicking the SCAF logo.
• Voting - where there is a poll, just click on your selection and then click Vote. You can review the results by clicking the 'View Stat" words. Note: for those with 'popper-stoppers', these interfere if not disengaged.
• Pictures and documents can be downloaded or printed but the procedure varies depending on the item. Some are 'pictures' - .jpg or .gif and so save as pictures. Others are standard web text you can highlight/save and paste into notebook or Word or whatever. For most pictures you can right click on it, select 'Save picture as", choose where you want to save it and that is it.
• Email your association by using the Email link from YOUR association's site.
• Postcards are simple bulletin boards for you to post items of interest, comments, questions and even complaints. A postcard is really set up for other site visitors to reply to but in most cases your association board is monitoring it. If the matter is for the board alone - email them.
• Calendars - bottom left on some sites - are maintained by your board. If you have an item you would like added then email them.
• LINKS - the goal here is to provide links to things specific to the association you are visiting. Anyone who has their own web page is welcome to have a link here but commercial sites are at the discretion of the association. Reciprocals are not required but appreciated.

ENJOY - ENJOY AND COME BACK OFTEN TO STAY UP TO DATE
