Hi Sandyhookers,

In our last newsletter and on the bulletin boards we have been drawing your attention to the huge SilverBack development proposed for between Sandy Hook and town. It may end up an OK development but there are so many unknown details and so many concerns about specifics that your board has spent untold hours trying to get answers and cooperation. You may recall that the developer cancelled out of speaking at our AGM. Together with the East Porpoise and Tuwanek associations we have been writing letters and making presentations calling for more information, public consultation meetings and meetings with the developer. Until last night it was all to no avail.

Last night an official presentation was made by the associaions at the District council meeting and some of the councillors listened. The result was that a scheduled motion to hold first reading on the development's approval was tabled. We think it is now up to council, the developer and the public to engage is some sort of dialogue if this is to be resolved and the project go forward in any form.

IF THERE ARE MEETINGS IT IS CRITICAL THAT AS MANY MEMBERS OF COMMUNITY SHOW UP AND EXPRESS OPINIONS ON THE OVERALL PROJECT OR SPECIFICS WITHIN IT. To do this you need to be informed. We plan to issue a newsletter when we know what is happening but we cannot cover everything in a one page flyer. Please get up to date by referencing the website at http://sechelt.net where we have posted a lot of material.

We will try to keep you as up to date as possible within our limited resources but PLEASE prepare yourself to be involved.

Thanks and enjoy the HOT weekend. Remember the pot luck picnic is Saturday at 4 pm
